During these weeks, we will work together to build and activate the new pavilion of the Wildernis. A place for everyone to come together and play!
Want to join in? We could really use your help! There are several ways to contribute. We’ve divided everything into three categories:
Helping hands
We need helping hands! Cooking, building, moving—between 04/21 and 05/25, your assistance will be greatly appreciated! Go to the calendar to see when we could use you help the best!
Financial Support
Financial contributions are essential to make this project a success. Whether big or small, every donation helps Wildernis grow!
Materials
We’re looking for tools and materials. Contact Wildebras to find out what we still need.
Here you will be able to follow when things will happen on the Wildernis Island. From the start of the building untill every single event and every moment we might need a helping hand!
‘Wildernis invites’ is an initiative by Berlin and Belgian-based members of
ConstructLab
and the local association
Wildebras.
Together with children, neighbors, interested people and the European Network of ConstructLab, we want to initiate a sustainable long-term use of the island ‘Wildernis’ in the middle of Kortrijk, Belgium, where Wildebras is currently running an adventure playground for kids.
In a multidisciplinary approach, we promote wild play, informal learning and an open democratic process of co-creation for kids, teenagers, and adults of Kortrijk.
“we promote wild play, informal learning and an open democratic process of co-creation”
‘WILDERNIS Invites’ is designed as a community project. From the beginning, this collaboration between Berlin and Belgian-based Constructlab members and Wildebras wants to foster the exchange of knowledge. In the sense of open source and informal learning, we want people to participate in this island’s long-term development.
“Regarding the plan to build a sustainable, circular pavilion to replace the existing infrastructure on site, Wildebras recieved a ground lease from the city of Kortrijk for the entire island for the next 27 years.”
This long-term perspective, combined with our strong belief in the need for outdoor playgrounds for children, we are willing to work towards a sustainable transition of the island.
